Introduction



Working with electricity is definitely very dangerous. Electricians, engineers and other such professionals work directly with electricity, which includes working on cable harnesses, overhead lines and circuit assemblies. In other cases, many sales people and office workers tend to deal
with electricity indirectly but are also exposed to potential electrical hazards.

Electrical safety in construction is a very important issue, and according to the OSHA standards, all employers and employees to be trained before dealing with any electrical devices. Unfortunately, in spite of all the care and precaution taken, there are still nearly 30,000 cases of electrical accidents reported annually. Each of these accident cases run into millions of dollars per year. However, safety regulations, standards, codes and proper training in using electrical devices and how to inspect these devices can help to minimize hazards and make the workplace a much safer place.

Course Description



The OSHA Electrical Safety course provides a basic overview of electrical safety for employers and employees with little or no familiarity with electrical hazards. It has been specifically designed for those workers who regularly use electric tools and extension cords, etc. The topics covered in the course are included in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.301-399 Subpart S.

Learning Objectives

  • To establish all the conditions that are covered in OSHA’s 1910 Subpart S Design Safety Standards.
  • To establish the general requirements for wiring methods and other equipment.
  • To establish the requirements and guidelines for special purpose equipment.
  • To understand the proper identification and use of conductors and circuits.

Testing


Initial Tests or Quizzes must be passed with a 100% ranking in order for the applicant to proceed to the next lesson.

The final Examination must be passed with a minimum of 70% in order to clear the course. If necessary, the final examination can be taken 3 times.
