Introduction
Fire hazards have the ability to cause wide scale damage and destruction within no time at all and are probably the worst hazards to occur at any workplace. Being the scourge of the modern civilization, fire hazards cannot be completely avoided or eliminated, but fire protection measures can be brought about.
Fire protection is everyones at the workplace. Ideally, employers should conduct training sessions for their employees with regards to fire protection, and what to do in case of a fire emergency. The fire safety plan should provide the employees with an outline of the roles of various key personnel in case of a fire emergency. An evacuation pan should also be set in place. In the construction industry, it is important for a “fire plan” to be set in place before beginning with any demolition job. The OSHA Fire Protection standard was created to help teach and spread awareness of the hazards associated with fire emergencies at a workplace and how to combat this hazard.
