OSHA – 10 Hour & 30 Hour Construction Outreach Courses without
29 CFR 1926 Manual

Introduction

The OSHA Outreach training program was specifically designed to train workers about the basics of occupational safety and health. Through this training course, workers who complete a one week trainer course are then authorized to teach the 10 & 30 hour courses for the general or construction industry with regards to health and safety recognition and prevention. Authorized trainers will receive the OSHA completion cards that they can hand out to their students. In the past few years, more than 1.6 million students have received these trainings.

About the Course

This course essentially covers 10 hours of trainings that are required by OSHA. These courses apply to the 10 hour construction industry, and a completion card will be received upon finishing the course. The module consists of 12 sections that discuss the regulations covered by the Standard 29 CFR 1926. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will help to meet the standards established by OSHA with regards to the construction industry.

The module on the other hand, covers 30 hours of trainings that are required by OSHA. These courses apply to the 30 hour construction industry, and a completion card will be received upon finishing the course. The module consists of 23 sections, each of nearly 2 hours in length, that discuss the regulations covered by the Standard 29 CFR 1926. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will help to meet the standards established by OSHA with regards to the construction industry.

OSHA recommends the Outreach training courses are an orientation to the occupational health and safety for the workers. If required by the OSHA standards, workers are entitled to receive additional trainings on the specific hazards of their respective jobs.

How it Works

You will first be sent a copy of the OSHA standards for the construction industry. The book will serve as a resource for for further referencing of the OSHA standards that will be covered in this course. It will also help you find the standards and regulations that could help is the establishment of a safer workplace.

All the supplementary materials are available for download. All you have to do is click on the “Materials” button on the menu. You will also find the printable course summaries of each of the modules, as well as the entire syllabus of the 30 hour course. Other reference materials are available on the main website. As you proceed through the course, it is important to be aware of the help that you can access in case of problems that you may come across. While taking the course, be aware of the time limits for the login session as well as the course. As far as the login session is concerned, you can take as long as possible bu if you are idle for 15 minutes or more, then you will automatically be logged out. However, you can log back in and rejoin the course where you left off.

As far as the course is concerned, remember that you have about 6 months to complete it in order to receive any credit. After 6 months, your account will expire and you will have to purchase a new course again if you want to complete it.

At the end of each module, you will receive a ten question quiz. You must score 70% or above to pass the quiz. You will be given 3 opportunities to take each quiz. Failure to pass the quiz will result in you being locked out of the course and you will not be allowed to continue with the training.

Upon successful completion of each of the modules, you will then be required to pass a final examination. The exam will have 20 questions and will basically test your knowledge about the topics covered in the course. You must score 70% and above to pass the test. However, you will get 3 chances to take the test and if you do not pass it even after 3 tries then you will be locked out of the course and will not be able to continue with your outreach training online.
