Introduction
The OSHA Outreach training program was specifically designed to train workers about the basics of occupational safety and health. Through this training course, workers who complete a one week trainer course are then authorized to teach the 10 & 30 hour courses for the general or construction industry with regards to health and safety recognition and prevention. Authorized trainers will receive the OSHA completion cards that they can hand out to their students. In the past few years, more than 1.6 million students have received these trainings.
About the Course
This training program covers 10 hours of courses that are required by the OSHA standards and are applied to obtain the 10 hour general industry completion card. The module consists of 10 basic sections that cover the topics related to the regulations covered by the standard 29 CFR 1910. Candidates that successfully complete this course will help to meet the standards established by OSHA with regards to industry standards.
OSHA recommends the Outreach courses as an orientation to the occupational safety and health of workers. If required by OSHA to do so, workers will be required to receive additional trainings on the specific hazards that are involved in their jobs.
The module that covers 30 hours of trainings is required by OSHA and is applied to obtain the 30 hour general industry course completion card. This module consists of 24 basic sections, each of approx. 2 hours, and covers topics related to the regulations under the standard 29 CFR 1910. Candidates that successfully complete this course will help to meet the standards established by OSHA with regards to the general industry standards.
How it Works
Supplementary materials are available for download. All you have to do is click on the “Materials” section. You can print out the course summaries for each module as well as print out the entire syllabus of the 30 hour course. Additional reference materials are available at www.osha.gov.
While taking the course, it is important to realize that there are time limits for your login session as well as for the course itself. If you are idle for more than 15 minutes during the login session, you will automatically be logged out and will have to login again so as to rejoin the course. As far as the course is concerned, you have a 6 month time limit to complete the course in. If you exceed this time limit, then your account will expire and will have to purchase the course all over again.
At the end of each of the modules, you will be required to answer a quick 10 question quiz. You should score 70% and above in order to move on. Your will however, get 3 turns to answer a quiz. Failure to pass the quiz will result in you being locked out and you will not be allowed to continue with the online outreach training program.
Upon the successful completion of each of the modules, you will have to answer the final examination. This is a 20 question test that will test your knowledge about all the topics covered in the course. You will be required 70% and above to pass the course and failure will result in you being locked out from the course. You will also no longer be able to take the online outreach training course.
