OSHA has made workplace safety for immigrants a priority what with the number of Latino and Hispanic workers doubling every day. OSHA is committed to identifying and tackling the workplace related hazards to improve the safety and health of the Hispanic workers.

While the overall workplace fatalities and illnesses have reduced by nearly 20% in the last couple of years, it has been observed that workplace fatalities amongst the Hispanic workers, especially those in the construction industry, have on the contrary risen to nearly 40%! With these figures in mind, OSHA has started taking many steps towards improving the safety and health of the Hispanic working community and for providing outreach and assistance to them.

Latino workers work in some of the most dangerous jobs and with the fewest protections. This is why the number of cases of casualties and fatalities seem to be on the rise. However, OSHA has stepped in and is now providing a number of training and education programs to Latino and Hispanic workers and employers improve their knowledge about the safe and healthy practices of complying with OSHA's Standards.
