Introduction
Each year, an increasing number of cases have been reported about workers getting killed or injured in confined spaces. Reports have shown that nearly 60% of the fatalities have been that of the rescuers attempting to rescue someone. A confined space can be extremely dangerous for a number of different reasons.
It is the employers responsibility to ascertain that a confined space is completely secure and safe for an employee to work in. If it is not possible to make the confined space safe for the employees, then the employees should be prohibited from entering such a space.
To effectively control and combat the risks that are associated with working in a confined space, OSHA has come up with a confined spaces course that is useful for all employees working in confined spaces.
