steel-erection

Introduction

Steel erection continues to be one of the most hazardous occupations in the construction industry today. The most common hazard for employees working in this field is loose items that have been carelessly placed and can fall and strike workers working below. However, with a little planning and a little forethought, steel erection employees can work in a safer working environment, which in turn will help to maximize productivity and minimize surplus costs caused due to accidents.

The 29 CFR 1926 Subpart R Steel Erection plan has been created with the intention to protect workers from potential steel erection hazards when involved in the construction, repair or alteration of any of the following:
  • Single Story Building
  • Multi Story Buildings
  • Bridges
  • Any structure that entails the erection of steel
