Introduction
Those individuals whose work involves responding to releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release are required to take up First responders at the operations level course. They are trained properly to respond in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release. Their work is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading, and prevent exposures.
Course Description
This course comprises of broad issues pertaining to hazard recognition at work sites. OSHA has designed the HAZWOPER program to protect the workers working at hazardous sites and has also devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. This course, besides identifying different types of hazards, also suggests possible precautions and protective measures to reduce or eliminate hazards at the work place.
